Mrs. Hester Rush, 71, of 205 Woodlawn Place, died at 10:25 a.m. Thursday at the Rest Haven Nursing Home. A resident of Crawfordsville the past 44 years, she had been ill five weeks. She was born in Crab Orchard, Ky., Nov. 15, 1894, to George and Amanda Hill Bastin. She married Charles G. Lewis in October 1913. He died in 1949. She married William E. Rush Dec. 10, 1953. He died Oct. 12, 1964. She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene and of the missionary society of the church in Crawfordsville. Survivors include two sons, James and Leonard Lewis, both of Crawfordsville; a stepson, John McDowell of Louisville; a daughter, Mrs. Ella Becklehimer, at home; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Virginia Joseph of Toledo, Ohio; two sisters, Mrs. Stella Irvin of Crab Orchard, Ky., and Mrs. Dessie Howard of Mt. Vernon, Ky.; a brother, Carl Bastin of Hamilton, Ohio; three grandchildren; four step-grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two infant daughters, a sister and a brother. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the First Church of the Nazarene in Crawfordsville. Rev. Darrell Luther will officiate. Burial will be in Masonic Cemetery. Friends may call at the residence after 7 p.m. Saturday. The body will lie in state at the church one hour preceding services.
